Vision Therapy

Some eye and vision conditions cannot be effectively treated with glasses or contacts alone, and are best addressed with Vision Therapy.

Similar to occupational therapy and physical therapy, Vision Therapy is a customized treatment program designed to help a person improve their visual performance.

Aberle Eye Care has been providing successful Vision Therapy for patients for more than 30 years. Through Vision Therapy, we help children and adults who have vision problems that affect their ability to read, learn, understand, or even pay attention.

Our Doctors and Vision Therapists create a personalized treatment program, and work one-on-one with each patient, enhancing their ability to control eye movements and improve eye focusing and visual processing.

  • Children and adults with a wide variety of visual challenges can benefit from Vision Therapy:
Children with average or above-average intelligence, who aren’t learning or participating in school up to their potential and who avoid homework and reading.
  • Patients who experience double vision, have poor depth perception, get tired after reading, and experience frontal headaches or eye strain.
  • People with eye turns, including lazy eye experience much higher cure rates with Vision Therapy than with eye surgery, glasses, or patching without therapy.
  • Patients who have experienced traumatic brain injury or head trauma, or who have developmental delays, attention deficit disorder, or autism spectrum disorder.
  • Athletes interested in improving sports vision, including improving eye-hand coordination and visual reaction time.

The earlier a person receives Vision Therapy the better, but VT can successfully treat adult patients as well.

Is Vision Therapy covered by insurance?

Vision Therapy is partially covered by some medical insurance plans (vision plans do not cover Vision Therapy). The Aberle Eye Care staff will verify your benefits and bill your medical insurance if it is included in your coverage. If your medical insurance does not cover Vision Therapy, we will work with you to review your treatment program and available payment plans.
